Lakewood, N.J. - After soaring to a 1-0 lead with a 25-21 set one victory, the Georgian Court University volleyball squad was unable to to maintain the momentum as visiting West Chester University swiped the next three stanzas (25-21, 25-16, 25-8) to secure the non-conference road victory Tuesday evening in the GCU Wellness Center.
The Golden Rams climb to 12 games over .500 with an 18-6 record while the Lions dip to 9-16 on the year.
WCU's
Karliegh Lutz (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) was the star of the show as the senior provided a double-double performance consisting of 21 kills and 16 digs.
Nicki Yates (Sr.-Coopersburg, Pa.) topped all players with 23 digs while
Jillian Grammer (Jr.-Center Valley, Pa.) shined with 48 assists, 15 digs and four service aces.
Peggy Rosario earned her team-best 10th double-double of the year for Georgian Court with her 12 kills and 11 digs.
Gaby Merced (21) and
Aubrey Binkley (10) also reached double-digit dig totals.
Ashley Pierson and
Jackie Sweeney dished 16 and 13 assists, respectfully, while
Leah Wieland provided seven kills and a team-high four blocks.
The Lions return to the court Wednesday night with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road match at Felician University. Start time is slated for 7;00 p.m.
