Newark, Del.- The Georgian Court University men's basketball squad took on Wilmington University Wednesday evening falling to the Wildcats, 81-62, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) divisional contest.
The home team proved to be poor hosts as Wilmington (15-7, 10-3 CACC) compiled an unappetizing 52-30 advantage after the first 20 minutes of action. The Lions responded by outscoring the Wildcats, 32-29, in the second half, but the effort would be to no avail.
Nikola Vujovic returned to action for GCU, leading the Lions with 15 points on the night.
Juwuan Carter fell just short of a double-double with his 13 points and nine boards while
Caleb Bowser contributed 11 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.
Wilmington's
Tyaire Ponzo-Meek (Sr.-Wilmington, Del.) topped all scorers with 26 points, connecting on seven three-pointers.
Omari Dill-Pettiford (So.-Newark, N.J.) added four three-balls of his own, collecting 18 points overall.
Nick Richards (Jr.-New Castle, Del.) deposited 17 points, complementing his five assists and four steals.
Brian Adkins (Sr.-Aberdeen, Md.) also eclipsed double-digits with his 12 points.
GCU now heads to Caldwell University this Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. CACC contest.
