Box Score Bridgeport, Conn.- The Georgian Court University women's lacrosse squad took to the road for the first time Wednesday as the Lions journeyed to the University of Bridgeport in NCAA Division II regional action. The host-Purple Knights secured a 14-11 victory to improve to 2-1 on the young season.
Bridgeport crafted a healthy 8-1 advantage in the first 26:36 of action.

Xena Valenzuela sliced the GCU deficit to 8-3 with 1:55 left before intermission, but the relentless Purple Knights slipped in two more tallies to take a cozy 10-3 surplus into the half.
Georgian Court (1-2) obtained the inspiration it needed during the break as the Lions exploded with six unanswered goals to start the second half. Both clubs traded the next two scoring efforts to make the score 11-10 Bridgeport with 14:20 to go. Unfortunately, two insurance goals over the next 7:36 provided the home team a safe three-goal advantage at 13-10.
Samantha Fernandez dazzled for the Lions with an impressive five goals on the day.
Kayanna Chandler poured in two goals and an assist for GCU while freshman
Arianna Quinlan added a goal and three helpers.
Nicole Barbella registered a goal and an assist in the setback.
Amber Neumann collected eight saves between the GCU pipes. Bridgeport out-shot the Lions, 27-22.
The Lions stay on the road with a 4:00 p.m. match-up with Millersville University this Friday afternoon.
