Box Score Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's lacrosse squad did not need the luck of the Irish Friday afternoon as the Lions cruised past Northern Michigan University, 15-1, in a St. Patrick's Day home matinee. The victory serves as GCU's first of the year (1-5) while the visiting Wildcats, playing the first road game ever for the upstart program, falls to 1-3 overall.
10 different Lions found the back of the net in the victory, highlighted by hat tricks from
Samantha Fernandez and
Arianna Quinlan.
Nicole Barbella registered a game-high six points with a goal and five assists.
Georgian Court blanked NMU, 10-0, in the first half of action and drained four unanswered in the second before
Shelby Klotz (So.-Farmington, Minn.) sent home the Wildcats' lone score of the day at the 8:37 mark of the final stanza.
Amber Neumann earned her first win of the season in the GCU net, collecting one save in 40:00 of action. The Lions out-shot its foe, 27-3 (18-2 SOG), in the contest.
GCU immediately returns to the field Saturday afternoon when Roberts Wesleyan College comes to town for a 12:00 p.m. start.
