Box Score Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's lacrosse squad continued its early dominance of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference competition Saturday afternoon as the Lions scorched visiting Holy Family University, 19-4, to improve to 4-0 in conference play.
Originally scheduled to be a road contest for the Lions, the game was moved to GCU's turf because of unplayable field conditions at HFU due to the recent rain.
Georgian Court (5-6, 4-0 CACC) took control immediately by building a 5-0 advantage in the first 7:41 of action before breezing into intermission with a hearty 13-2 surplus. GCU closed out the impressive performance with a 6-2 mark in the second half to cement their fourth straight win.
Taylor Bauerband captained the offensive onslaught with a five-goal, two assist effort for the Lions.
Nicole Barbella also garnered seven points with five helpers and two tallies.
Xena Valenzuela contributed four goals and an assist while
Samantha Fernandez authored a hat trick.
Angelina Palermo and
Arianna Quinlan each slipped in two goals apiece fo GCU.
Amber Neumann improved to 5-6 in the GCU net after collecting two saves in 33:22 of action. The Lions out-shot the Tigers, 47-8.
Georgian Court gets a true test on Tuesday afternoon when the Lions host defending-champion Philadelphia University at 3:30 p.m.
