Lions Begin Title Defense with 0-0 Stalemate at Lock Haven

Box Score Lock Haven, Pa. - The Georgian Court University men's soccer squad, playing its first contest since last season's epic shootout victory over Post University in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championship game, opened the 2017 campaign with a non-conference visit to Lock Haven University.

The Lions (0-0-1) and host-Bald Eagles (0-0-1) scrapped to a double overtime scoreless tie, providing each team with an opening day point. The 0-0 final is the first such result in the five-year history of the GCU men's program.

Lock Haven out-shot its guest by a 15-8 margin, including a 6-3 advantage when it came to shots-on-goal. Yianni Kavarakas earned his second career shutout in net for Georgian Court, collecting six saves in 110:00 of action.

GCU immediately returns to the pitch Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. with a trip to Bloomsburg University.
