Box Score Flushing, N.Y.- The Georgian Court University women's volleyball squad took the floor for the first time in 2017 Friday evening as the Lions trekked to Queens College for an NCAA Division II non-conference showdown.
The visiting Lions grabbed the first set by a score of 25-19 before the host-Knights rattled off single-game wins of 25-13, 25-22, and 25-21 to escape the season-opener with a 3-1 victory.
Three members of the Queens' roster achieved double-digits in the kills column, led by
Cassidy Stewart's (So.-Keller, Texas) 13 putdowns (22 attempts).
Kristen Moore (Sr.-Medford, N.Y.) dished 48 assists for the 1-0 Knights while
Reggie Anthony (Sr.-Jamaica, N.Y.) controlled a game-high 13 digs.
Peggy Rosario, GCU's leader in kills a year ago, picked up right where she left off as the junior blasted a match-best 15 kills (33 attempts) in the setback.
Jackie Sweeney topped the team with 13 assists while freshman
Ashley Pierson contributed 11 helpers in her collegiate debut.
