Box Score Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University men' soccer squad continued its hot start Wednesday afternoon as the Lions dismissed the University of New Haven, 1-0, in a rain-soaked home opener for the Lions.
The lone goal of the contest came off the boot of
Daniel Chochlinski as the sophomore gathered a
Jonathan Firmino feed to the far right of the five-yard line and buried a nearly-impossible shot into the left-hand corner of the New Haven net in the 24th minute (23:17). The tally marked the first of the year for the native of Ratoath, Ireland.
The Lions (3-0-1) dominated the shots column with a 20-5 advantage, including an 11-3 surplus on frame.Â
Reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Goalkeeper of the Week,
Yianni Kavarakas, registered his third shutout of the campaign as the sophomore gathered three saves in the win. The Chargers fell to 0-3 with the setback.
Georgian Court kicks off the CACCÂ slate on Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. road game at Dominican College.
