Lakewood, N.J. - The Georgian Court University women's basketball squad proved to be unable to stanch a multi-tooled Caldwell University offense Saturday afternoon as the visiting Cougars stormed into the GCU Wellness Center and sent home the limping Lions, 92-56, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
Caldwell, currently atop the CACCÂ North standings, moves to 14-3 (7-1 CACC) with the win while Georgian Court drops to 3-12 (1-7 CACC) on the season.
GCU opened the contest with a hot hand, mounting a 10-2 lead with 6:00 remaining in the first quarter. The Lions would own a portion of the lead all the way to the 33-second mark of the initial frame when a
Sharell Sanders (Sr.-Dorchester, Mass.) lay-up snapped a 14-14 tie and put the Cougars ahead fo what would turn out to be the remainder of the affair.
The road team increased its surplus to 37-28 heading into intermission before running away with the game after a 55-28 showing in the second half. The Cougars connected on 20-of-21 attempts from the charity stripe (95.2%) while pouring in 42 points as a direct result of 32 Georgian Court turnovers.
Kristen Drogsler (Sr.-Middle Village, N.Y.) captained the Caldwell onslaught with a game-high 26 points, eight boards and five steals.
Karlie O'Driscoll (Sr.-Sharon, Mass.) deposited 16 points in 23 minutes off the Cougars' bench while
Kristen Siscamanis (Jr.-Winthrop, Mass.) and Sanders contributed 13 and 10 points, respectively, in the victory.
As for GCU,
Destiny Thompson paced the scoring column with her team-best 14 points.

Jess Placher added 10 points of her own.
The Lions now focus on this Tuesday when Georgian Court travels to Goldey-Beacom College for a 6:00 p.m. tip. In their lone previous meeting this season, the Lightning escaped the Wellness Center with a 75-66 overtime triumph back on December 19.
