Nyack, N.Y. - The Georgian Court University men's basketball squad coasted to its second straight victory Saturday afternoon as the Lions knocked off Nyack College, 83-66, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
The win improved the Lions to 5-15 (5-7 CACC) and gives the program its most conference victories in a season since joining the CACC prior to the 2013-14 campaign. With the defeat, the Warriors drop to 4-15 (4-8 CACC).
Georgian Court essentially led the entire contest en route to the win, building a game-high, 18-point advantage after a pair of
Juwuan Carter free throws put the Lions ahead, 79-61, with 1:05 remaining in regulation.
Nikola Vujovic compiled one of the best efforts ever by a Lion as the junior drained 33 points and ripped down 13 rebounds to earn his team-leading fifth double-double of the year. Vujovic's 33 points are just one point short of the team record, established by
Keith Hughes on Feb.8, 2014 in a 94-87 loss to Felician.
Carter fell just one rebound away from his own double-double performance with 15 points and nine boards in the victory.
Omar Williams deposited 13 points and dished six helpers while
Caleb Bowser followed with 12 points of his own.
Deandre Osuigwe (Fr.-Sarasota, Fla.) collected 16 points for the Warriors, all by way of the three-point line.
Curtis Thompson (So.-Burlington, N.J.) collected 14 in the setback.
Elijah Farley (Jr.-Orlando, Fla.) hit with 13 points.
The Lions go for their third straight "W" Tuesday evening with an 8:00 p.m. conference contest at Jefferson.
