Brookville, N.Y. - Georgian Court, playing its third road contest of the young 2018-19 women's basketball campaign, traveled to LIU Post Saturday afternoon where the Lions dropped an 83-66 decision to the Pioneers in non-conference action.
The win improves LIU's record to 2-0 in what will be the team's final as an NCAA Division II program (the Pioneers move to Division I in 2019-20). Georgian Court continues to seek its first victory of the year, falling to 0-4 overall.
Three Lions eclipsed double-digits in the scoring column, topped by
Safiyyah Lee and her 16 points.
Destiny Thompson, coming off a 17-point performance Wednesday evening vs. Kutztown, poured in 14 more in Saturday's outing.
Jada Atchison contributed 10 points of her own.
Ivona Krakic led all players with 15 boards, complemented by her eight points.
Ja'Lyn Armstrong (Fr.-Baltimore, Md.) paced the Pioneers with 20 points in the victory, shooting 9-of-13 from the floor.
Shannon Doyle (Sr.-Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) followed with 15 points while
Sasha Patterson (Gr.-Patterson, N.J.) and Asia Turner
(Jr.-Philadelphia, Pa.) contributed 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Georgian Court returns to action Tuesday night with an 8:00 p.m. home game vs. Mercy College.
