Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Three Unanswered Tallies Rally #2 Post University Past #3 Lions in CACC Men's Soccer Semifinals

Waterbury, Conn.- Thanks to a trio of unanswered tallies in the second half, #2 Post University overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to hold off #3 Georgian Court University and advance to Sunday's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Championship game vs. #1 Wilmington University.

GCU attacked first when a Vinicius Monteiro free kick found the back of the Post net (43:29), providing the Lions major momentum heading into intermission. The lead lasted until 53:02 at which time Francesco Perienelli connected with a Sergio Diaz helper to knot the affair at 1-1.

Sergio Sanchez followed with what would be the game-winner when he rattled home an unassisted effort at 58:01, putting Post ahead at 2-1. Diaz and Sanchez teamed up on the Eagles' final scoring effort when the former belted in an insurance tally at 70:52 to guarantee a Sunday showdown vs. Wilmington. The top-seed Wildcats dropped #4 Jefferson, 2-1, earlier in the day

The home team (12-7-1) owned a healthy 23-14 advantage in the shots column (14-9 SOG). Fredrik Pedersen collected eight saves in the winning effort for the Eagles.  GCU's Jamie Hickey grabbed a season-high 11 denials, concluding what was a sensational season for the sophomore shot-stopper.

The Lions close the year with an overall record of 13-5-1, tying the 2016 championship squad (13-5-2) for most single-season wins in program history.
