Albany, N.Y.- Riding the high from Tuesday's road victory at Goldey-Beacom College, Georgian Court University journeyed to New York's capital city Saturday to take on the College of Saint Rose in non-conference women's hoops action.
The Golden Knights got the best of the Lions on this day, ending the afternoon with an 80-60 victory. Saint Rose climbs above the .500 mark with the win at 5-4 while GCU goes to 1-8 on the year after the setback.
Saint Rose's
Ashley Vanderwall (Palmyra, N.Y.) dominated the day as the senior sank a game-high 38 points in 38 minutes, including an incredible 9-of-12 shooting from beyond the three-point line. No other player eclipsed the double-digit plateau for the Golden Knights in the victory.
Destiny Thompson topped the Lions with her 17 points and eight boards. For the second straight game,
Ivona Krakic established a new personal game-high with her 12 points while also pacing GCU with her three blocks and four helpers.
After pouring in a team-best 26 points at Goldey-Beacom earlier in the week,
Jada Atchison followed up that effort with eight points over 35 minutes of action at Saint Rose.
GCU returns to action on Wednesday, December 19 with a CACC road contest at Chestnut Hill College. Start time is set for 6:00 p.m.
