Seniors Carter & Vujovic Leave It All on Court as Lions Fall to Felician in Season Finale, 90-80

Vujovic Becomes Third Player Ever to Reach 1,000 Career Points

Lakewood, N.J. - The Georgian Court University men's basketball squad bid farewell to the 2018 campaign Saturday, as well as to stars Juwuan Carter and Nikola Vujovic, as the Lions dropped a 90-80 high-scoring decision to visiting Felician University.

Prior to tip-off, the Lions celebrated the outstanding collegiate contributions of the graduating duo. However, this was a warm-up to the thrills the pair would provide on the court as the duo combined for 53 of GCU's points on the afternoon.

The two squads would take turns with the lead for the first 10:00 of action before the Golden Falcons (12-15, 9-10 CACC) soared to a seemingly healthy 14-point surplus after a Rashaan Williams (Jr.-Brooklyn, N.Y.) three-pointer put the visitors up, 40-26, with 5:14 left before the half. GCU responded with a 17-3 run to slice the deficit to two (45-43) heading into intermission.

GCU knotted the score at 45-all in dramatic fashion to start the second half as Vujovic, needing 16 points to become the third player in program history (Carter, Keith Hughes) to eclipse 1,000 career points, did just that with a game-tying layup just 13 seconds into the stanza.

Felician, however, was not in the mood to celebrate as the visitors took off on a 22-4 run to go ahead by 18 (67-49) with 13:34 to go. The Golden Falcons' lead would not dip below double-digits the rest of the way, reaching a high-water mark of 19 (76-57) at the 9:14 mark.

Gjaimeir Stanford (Sr.-Wilmington, Del.) and Terrell Spaulding (Jr.-Paterson, N.J.) dazzled for Felician with 24 and 23 points, respectively, while Williams registered a double-double performance consisting of 14 rebounds of 10 points.

Carter left the Lions' faithful wanting more with his season-high 31 points in the effort while Vujovic drained 22 points of his one in his farewell contest. Caleb Bowser ended his season with 11 points and five assists while Tony Ellington, Jr. was good for a contribution of 10 boards and eight points.
