Nyack, N.Y. - Having not faced a foe since March 13 due to a moody Mother Nature, Georgian Court University finally returned to action Saturday afternoon with an 18-5 road win at Nyack College in the opening contest of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse calendar.
GCU, the defending CACC champs, demonstrated zero funny business as the Lions (3-5, 1-0 CACC) put the game out of reach early with a 14-1 advantage after just 30 minutes of action. The Warriors (0-6, 0-1 CACC) matched Georgian Court with four goals apiece in the second session, but the home team never sniffed a surplus on this day.
12 different Lions found the back of the net in the victory, topped by
Samantha Fernandez's four tallies.
Taylor Bauerband followed with a hat trick while
Adriana Quinlan provided a pair of her own.
Nicole Barbella collected a goal and seven assists.
Amber Neumann needed only three saves to earn the win in net for Georgian Court as the junior played the first 30:00 of the contest.
The victors return home Tuesday to host Dominican College at 3:30 p.m. in another CACC showdown.
