Lakewood, N.J. - The Georgian Court University men's lacrosse squad, playing on its home turf for the first time in 2018, welcomed Ohio Valley University to campus Sunday afternoon. The Lions put on a show for the faithful in attendance as GCU topped the Fighting Scots, 13-4, earning their initial win of the year (1-2).
The Lions netted six of the contest's first seven goals, taking a 6-1 advantage at the 4:59 mark of the second period. OVU popped in the next two tallies to inch within three (6-3) at 13:49 of the third frame before Georgian Court outscored its opponent by a 7-1 margin over the remainnder of regulation to ease into the win column.
Five GCU players enjoyed multi-goal efforts in the triumph including a hat trick each for
Tanner Lee,
Patrick Quinn and
Michael Saladino.Â
Jeffery Galatola and
Ryder Verdoni followed with two goals apiece.
Austin Geissel was credited with the win in net for the Lions as the sophomore secured 10 saves in 53:03 of action. GCU outshot the Scots, 39-25 (29-16 shots-on-goal).
Georgian Court now journeys to West Virginia for its next two outings starting with a trip to Davis & Elkins College Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
