Lions Win Second Straight By Kicking Off Country Road Trip With 19-10 Win at Davis & Elkins

Elkins, W.V.- The Georgian Court University men's lacrosse squad kicked off a two-game trip in West Virginia Tuesday evening as the Lions downed Davis & Elkins College, 19-10, to earn GCU its second straight victory (2-2 overall).

The contest marks the second contest ever between the two squads as GCU topped the Senators, 11-9, last year (March 21) on the Lions' Lakewood, N.J. campus.

Tanner Lee and Troy Longley provided GCU an initial 2-0 lead in the first before Davis & Elkins (0-3) netted four straight tallies to go ahead, 4-2, after one period of play. Each team registered a pair of goals in the second quarter as the home team entered the half with a 6-4 surplus.

The Lions came out of the intermission hungry as the visitors accounted for seven of the nine goals in the third frame. Now owning an 11-8 lead, GCU carried that momentum into the final session by starting the fourth with eight unanswered tallies to take an untouchable 19-8 advantage.

Michael Saladino starred for the Georgian Court offense with his game-high six goals and three assists, while Jeffrey Galatola, Connor Houghton and Patrick Quinn all achieved hat tricks in the victory.

Austin Geissel, the reigning CACC Defensive Player of the Week, earned his second win of the year in the GCU net, collecting 10 saves on the evening.

Georgian Court returns to the field Thursday afternoon with a visit to Alderson Broaddus University (Philippi, W.V.) at 4:00 p.m.
