Lakewood, N.J. - Georgian Court University continues to to cruise through the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference as the Lions toppled visiting Wilmington University,18-5, Tuesday afternoon to improve to 6-0 (8-6 overall) in conference play.
GCU and the Wildcats (4-8, 2-3 CACC) exchanged the initial goals of the contest before the Lions unloaded with 13 unanswered tallies to take a commanding 14-1 advantage with 25:46 remaining in the second half. Wilmington would connect on four of the game's next six to cut the deficit to 16-5 with 8:31 left, but the final outcome was already well in hand.
Arianna Quinlan led the charge for the victors with seven points on the day, which included five goals and two assists.
Nicole Barbella put in a lone goal and dished four helpers while
Samantha Fernandez collected four goals of her own. CACCÂ Rookie of the Week,
Madison Heck, compiled a goal and assist in the rout.
Amber Neumann earned the win in net for the Lions, improving to 8-6 on the year with two saves in her first half effort (30:00).
Georgian Court hits the road for its next game this Saturday at 4:00 p.m. vs. Chestnut Hill College.
