Lakewood, N.J.- Thanks to a scalding shooting effort of 54.6% from the floor, Georgian Court University secured a solid 87-80 victory over Holy Family University Tuesday night in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's basketball action.
GCU (6-3 CACC, 6-11 overall), winners of two straight and three of their last four, hangs on to third-place in the CACC South Division standings with the triumph. The Tigers tumble to 4-4 in conference play (6-10 overall) with the setback. The win marks Georgian Court's first at home vs. Holy Family since the Lions became an NCAA Division II program prior to the 2003-04 campaign.
Three Lions eclipsed the 20-point mark in the contest,topped by
Jada Atchison's 27 on the night. The redshirt junior connected on five three-pointers and hit 8-of-10 free throw attempts.
