Tommaso Rio registered a pair of tallies, and assisted on another, as the sophomore scoring leader paced Georgian Court University in the Lions' 4-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's soccer victory at Nyack College.
Rio, now the team leader with three goals on the season, accounted for GCU's first two scores of the match, finding the back of the net at 18:08 (assisted by
Daniel Vicente) and 20:30 (unassisted) to provide the Lions an early 2-0 lead. Fellow countryman,
Giovanni Ciocca-Vasino, added his second of the year (assisted by Rio) at 27:14 to grow the Georgian Court surplus heading into intermission.
Matthew Finocchiaro secured the visitors' fourth-and-final goal at 83:11 (unassisted) to seal the deal for the Lions. Georgian Court out-shot its host, 17-9, in the triumph.
Jamie Hickey grabbed five saves as the sophomore collected his team-leading second shutout of the campaign.
Georgian Court (4-7, 3-3 CACC) now looks forward to Wednesday evening (7:00 p.m.) at Chestnut Hill College when they take on the Griffins in another conference showdown.
