Volleyball Back on Track as Lions Pocket Conference "W" at Caldwell

Caldwell, N.J. - After having its five-game winning halted Thursday, Georgian Court University returned to the win column Saturday as the Lions collected a 3-1 triumph on the road at Caldwell University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's volleyball competition.

GCU snagged the first set by scores of 25-20 and 25-23, respectively. The Cougars (7-13, 5-3 CACC) responded with a 25-23 win in the third stanza before the Lions closed the door on their host in the fourth-and-final frame, 25-18.

For the eighth-straight contest, Kinsy Haschke reached double-digits in the kills category as the sophomore floored a team-high 17 in the win. By adding 12 digs, Haschke also registered her second-consecutive double-double and team-leading eighth of the year.

Amy Bruno garnered seven kills and six blocks, followed by Shana Rayside with six kills and four denials. Ashley Pierson contributed 20 assists in the match while Jaime Sweeney countered with 16 of her own. Emily McCurley topped all players with her 22 digs.

Georgian Court will next take the floor on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. with a visit to Jefferson. The Lions topped the Rams, 3-1, in the squads' previous encounter, Sept. 28 in Lakewood.
