Lakewood, N.J. - Seeking redemption for last month's 3-2 loss at Wilmington University, Georgian Court University did so quite efficiently as the Lions sent the Wildcats walking in just 1:05 with a 3-0 sprint of a victory Wednesday night in the Wellness Center.
GCU registered its fifth-straight triumph after collecting the straight-set win with scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-14. The first-place Lions move to 19-5 (10-2 CACC) while Wilmington drops to 15-11 (7-5 CACC) after losing its fourth-straight outing.
Shana Rayside ripped a match-best 13 kills (.455 hitting percentage) to pace the victors while
Kinsy Haschke dropped down 10 of her own.
Grace Fenn (six kills, .545) and
Amy Bruno (eight kills, .500) also demonstrated pinpoint accuracy. The team combined for a quality overall percentage of .316.
Jaime Sweeney and
Ashley Pierson continue to provide perfect passes as the duo collected 21 and 16 assists, respectively.
Nahomie Alejandro Negron led all players with her 11 digs, followed by
Emily McCurley with 10.
The Lions return to the home floor this Saturday with a tri-match vs. Concordia College (11:00 a.m.) and Lincoln University (3:00 p.m.). Concordia and Lincoln will battle at 1:00 p.m.
