Garden City, N.Y. - Playing its final contest before the Thanksgiving break, Georgian Court University suffered a 93-56 defeat at the hands of host-Adelphi University Tuesday in NCAA Division II women's basketball action.
Never trailing in the game, the undefeated Panthers (6-0) owned a ten-point lead after the initial quarter of action (26-16) and a 19-point surplus at intermission (51-32). The second half saw the Lions get outscored 42-24 over the final twenty minutes as GCU (1-3) drops its third-straight decision after opening the campaign with a victory back on Nov. 9.
Four members of the victors cleared the double-digit threshold, topped by
Katie Murphy (Jr.-Smithtown, N.Y.) with her game-high 19 points.
Emily Miccile (Jr.-Wrentham, Mass.) recorded a double-double effort consisting of 16 points and 12 boards for the Panthers.
Safiyyah Lee paced the Lions with her 15 points and six rebounds while
Jada Atchison poured in 10 points of her own over 26 minutes.
The Lions enjoy a six-day respite before kicking off Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference competition next Tuesday with a 6:00 p.m. home contest vs. Chestnut Hill College.
