Waterbury, Conn. – A 49-point first half for Post University set the tone as the hometown Eagles soared to a 93-76 victory over visiting Georgian Court University Saturday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball action.
In a first half that saw 85 combined points, Post (9-15, 6-9 CACC) shot a stellar 57.58% from the floor, connecting on 19-of-33 field goal attempts and nine-of-14 (64%) from three-point land.
After entering the break with a 13-point cushion (49-36), the Eagles owned a double-digit advantage for a majority of the second half while increasing its high-water mark to a game-best 23 points on two separate occasions.
Tyshon Rogers (Jr.-Waterbury, Conn.) and
D.J. Jarrett (Jr.-Waterbury, Conn.) led the way for the home team with 28 and 24 points, respectively.
Tamas Okros (Sr.-Bristol, England) and
Savion Boissard (Jr.-Walden, N.Y.) added 18 and 11 points apiece to balance the Post production.
Sean Barksdale made the most of his starting opportunity as the junior netted a team-high 19 points for the Lions.
Matt Ringel continues to be an offensive force as the junior followed with 17 points in 26 minutes.
Bryce Council added 13 points and six assists in the effort.
Georgian Court (4-20, 3-12) now returns home to host Jefferson Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m. in the Wellness Center Arena.
