Women's Lax Drops 16-5 Decision to #7 East Stroudsburg

Lakewood, N.J. - Playing its second game in three days, Georgian Court University hosted #7 East Stroudsburg University Thursday afternoon in NCAA Division II women's lacrosse action. The visiting Warriors, taking the field for the first time in 2019, leaves Lakewood with a 16-5 non-conference victory, thanks to eight unanswered goals over the game's final 13:54.

ESU (1-0) opened the contest by netting five of the first six goals to take a 5-1 lead with 10:59 remaining in the first half. Arianna Quinlan put away a Nicole Barbella feed at the 4:06 mark for the Lions to cut the deficit to 5-2 before intermission.

Each team exchanged a trio of tallies to make the score 8-5 Warriors (21:52), which set the stage for East Stroudsburg's 8-0 spurt in the runaway rout.

Krista Mitrarotunda (So.-Rockaway, N.J.) dominated for the victors with five goals, four assists, six draw controls and five ground balls. Hana Cicerelle (Jr.-Broadway, N.J.) followed with four goals and an assist to go along with four grounders. Cassidy McKenna (Jr.-Basking Ridge, N.J.) enjoyed a hat trick and a helper in the win.

Madison Heck accounted for almost the entire Georgian Court offense on this day as the sophomore sent in four goals. Barbella provided a pair of assists in the loss.

The Warriors out-shot the Lions, 41-22 (27-17 shots-on-goal), in the win including a 23-7 differential in the second half.  Tatyana Petteway (Jr.-Nanuet, N.Y.) collected 16 saves in the complete-game win for ESU while Georgian Court's Amber Neumann secured 11 of her own in the effort.

GCU (1-3) returns to action Wednesday afternoon with a 2:30 p.m. non-conference home game vs. #19 NYIT.
