Six Different Lions Register Goals in 7-5 Non-Conference Victory Over STAC

Lakewood, N.J. - Georgian Court University spread the wealth Saturday in men's lacrosse action as six different Lions found the back of the net to lead GCU to a 7-5 non-conference home victory vs. Saint Thomas Aquinas College.

The Spartans drew first blood when Brenton Mighty (Sr.-Elmont, N.Y.) netted an unassisted tally 3:42 into the game. Georgian Court answered mightily with seven unanswered goals to take a commanding 7-1 advantage in a scoring streak that concluded with 4:19 left in the third period.

STAC (1-2) proceeded to make things interesting for the Lions as the visitors poured in a quartet of scoring efforts in the fourth-and-final frame to provide a bit of last-minute tension in the eventual Georgian Court victory.

P.J. Saracino enjoyed a big-time game as the sophomore contributed a goal and five assists in the triumph. Daniel Burnham notched a pair of tallies in the win. Mighty accounted for four of the Spartans' five goals in the setback. GCU controlled the shots column with a 46-24 advantage, including an eight-shot advantage on frame.

Austin Geissel, with nine saves over 60:00, improves to 3-5 on the year in the Georgian Court cage. Ryan Mello (Sr.-Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) registered 15 saves in the STAC loss.

GCU (3-5) now looks ahead to Wednesday evening when the Lions visit Molloy College for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference showdown.
