Rockville Centre, N.Y. - Trailing 3-1 after one period of play, Molloy College proceeded to pour in six of the game's seven remaining goals as the host-Lions escaped with a 7-4 non-conference home victory over Georgian Court University Wednesday night in men's lacrosse action.
Molloy and GCU exchanged a pair of tallies to kick off the contest before scores from Georgian Court's
Devin Bell and
P.J. Saracino put the visiting Lions ahead 3-1 with four seconds remaining in the first quarter. The home team countered with a pair of goals in the second to knot the score at 3-3 with 4:54 to go before the half.
Kevin Pastier (Jr.-Plainview, N.Y.) made the score 4-3 Molloy after sending in a tally with a man-advantage at 10:33 in the third before
Tanner Lee evened the ledger for GCU after sending in a
Patrick Quinn feed at the 4:59 mark of the same frame.
That would be the last time Georgian Court would find the back of the net as a pair of goals from
Nick Del Giorno (So.-Floral Park, N.Y.), and final insurance tally from Pastier, sealed the win for Molloy (2-4).
Michael Kessler (So.-Wantagh, N.Y.) earned the "W" in the Molloy cage with 12 saves in the complete-game effort.
Austin Geissel continues to shine in the GCU net as the junior registered 13 saves in the tough-luck defeat.
GCU (3-6) returns to competition Tuesday with a home game vs. #5 LIU Post. Start time is slated for 3:30 p.m.
