Lakewood, N.J. - Georgian Court University welcomed #5 LIU Post to campus Tuesday afternoon as the visiting Pioneers pushed past the Lions, 19-6, in NCAA Division II men's lacrosse action.
Down 3-1 with 6:26 to go in the initial period of play, the freshman duo of
Brandon Lewis (4:35) and
Michael Ventresca (2:49) poured in back-to-back tallies to tie the contest at 3-all. The Pioneers (6-2) proceeded to pour on the offense as the road team unloaded for a 14-1 surge, providing LIU Post a lofty 17-4 surplus with 00:54 left in the third frame.
Jake Gillis (Calgary, Alberta) served as the star of the show as the LIU freshman netted six goals to go along with three assists.
William Snelders (So.-Port Jefferson, N.Y.) provided three goals and a helper while
Mike Kadnar (Jr.-Franklin Square, N.Y.) netted a hat trick of his own.
Connor Farrell (Holtsville, N.Y.) was victorious in 21 of 24 face-off attempts as the senior earned 19 ground balls in the win.Â
Bryan Ochs (Sr.-Syosset, N.Y.) registered the goalkeeping victory with eight saves over 47:27.
As for the Lions,
P.J. Saracino topped the team with his two goals.
Ryder Verdoni contributed a tally and an assist in the effort.
Austin Geissel did all he could to keep the home team in the game as the GCU net-minder secured 16 total saves in 47:09 of action.
The Pioneers dominated the shots column with a 59-31 margin (37-19 shots-on-goal).Â
GCU (3-7) returns to action on Tuesday, April 2 when they host the University of the District of Columbia at 3:30 p.m.
