Overtime Heartbreak for Men's Lacrosse as Lions Lose, 7-6, at Embry-Riddle to Close Florida Trip

Daytona Beach, Fla. - Closing out its two-game trek through the Sunshine State, Georgian Court University suffered a 7-6 overtime defeat at Embry-Riddle University Tuesday night in NCAA Division II men's lacrosse action.

The Lions (1-4) called dibs on the lone goal of the first period when Patrick Quinn connected on a Brandon Razler helper (4:34) to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. The hometown Eagles responded with the only tallies of the second frame, courtesy of scoring efforts from Kyle Dalrymple (Sr.-Buffalo, N.Y.) and Jarad Kane (Fr.-Jacksonville, Fla.) at 5:33 and 4:09, respectively.

Coming out of the half trailing by one, Brandon Razler once again set the table, this time for Devin Bell, as the Lions knotted the score at 2-2 just 53 seconds into the third period. Unfazed, Embry-Riddle rallied by pouring in four unanswered efforts to go ahead, 6-2, at the 4:02 mark of the stanza.

Georgian Court showed its meddle by countering the Embry-Riddle four score with a quartet of its own, three of which came from the stick of P.J.Saracino, to create a 6-6 stalemate. The shot-scoring sophomore fired up the visiting sideline by slinging in the tying shot with just 15 ticks remaining in regulation.

Unfortunately, the euphoria would be temporary for the Lions as the contest came to a crashing close when Ryan Manning (So.-Elkton, Md.) fired in the game-winner with 2:04 to go in the first extra session.

Lucas Fraser (Fr.-Detroit, Mich.) with 10 saves in the complete-game effort, earned the win for the 5-2 Eagles. Austin Geissel (61:56, eight saves) suffered the hard-luck loss.

Georgian Court now returns north to host Alderson Broaddus University this Friday at 2:30 p.m.
