Lakewood, N.J.- With the help of six unanswered goals to start the contest, Georgian Court University cruised to a 10-3 non-conference home victory over visiting Alderson Broaddus University, the first such win for the Lions this season in men's lacrosse action.
The Battlers (1-5), after entering intermission with a 6-0 deficit, came out the other end by claiming three of the second half's first four tallies to cut the Lions' lead to 7-3 with 7:25 remaining in regulation. Georgian Court halted the Alderson Broaddus charge dead in its tracks as the home team poured in three more goals over the final 3:18 to seal the triumph.
Patrick Quinn topped GCU with three points on the day, including a pair of goals and a helper.
Daniel Burnham,
Randy Collins and
Tanner Lee also provided a pair of tallies in the win.
Austin Geissel turned away 10 shots in the complete-game victory for 2-4 Georgian Court.
Joseph Varela (Sr.-California, Md.) did his best to keep the Battlers in contention with 20 saves over 60:00 of action in the ABU net.
The Lions take Saturday off before returning to the turf Sunday with a 12:00 p.m. road game at #8 Pace University.
