Lyndhurst, N.J. - Georgian Court University established a new program record with 26 goals, and
P.J. Saracino tied the team mark for goals in a single game (six) as the Lions downed host-Felician University, 26-6, Saturday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's lacrosse action.
The Lions' previous game-best of 19 goals occurred on two separate occasions. most recently taking place on Mar. 6, 2018 at Davis & Elkins (W, 19-10).
With the scored tied at 1-1 early in the first period (10:45), Georgian Court unloaded for 12 unanswered tallies to take an insurmountable 13-1 lead with 7:06 to go in the initial half of play. Entering intermission with a 14-3 advantage, the Lions went on to outscore the Golden Falcons, 12-3, in the second stanza.
Ten different Lions found the back of the net in the victory, paced by Saracino's half-dozen. The North Haven, Conn. native joins
Michael Saladino (3/6/18) and
Jake Sherman (3/21/17) atop GCU's single-game goal list.
Devin Bell poured in a career-best five tallies while
Tanner Lee and
Ryder Verdoni recorded hat tricks in the rout.
Dawson Heath,
Nicholas Mann and
Randy Collins enjoyed two-goal showings for the victors.
Austin Geissel, playing only the first half (30:00), evened his record at 6-6 in the Georgian Court net, securing three saves on the day.
