Newark, Del.. - Georgian Court University moved to a perfect 7-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon as the Lions topped host-Wilmington University by ten, 21-11, for their 29th consecutive victory over a conference foe (including postseason).
GCU, now 11-4 overall on the year, has outscored the CACC by a margin of 136-45 in those seven contests. The Wildcats drop to 8-7 (5-2 CACC) with the setback.
Four Lions poured in three or more goals on the day, paced by
Arianna Quinlan with her game-high five. The junior now has netted at least a hat trick in seven straight outings.
Samantha Fernandez and
Madison Heck connected on four tallies apiece while
Heather Devaney secured three of her own.
Nicole Barbella continues to captain the offense as the senior logged 12 points in the rout, a total that included 10 assists. The Staten Island, N.Y, native leads the entire nation with her 68 total helpers.
Shaine Sauter proved to a menace on the field with her five caused turnovers and five ground balls.
Amber Neumann, in 44:08 of action, improved to 11-4 in the Georgian Court net, collecting four total saves in the effort. The Lions dominated the shot column at 47-22, including a 35-16 advantage on frame.
The Lions return home on Tuesday, April 23 to take on top-rival, Jefferson, in CACC action. First draw is set for 3:30 p.m.
