Georgian Court Secures Senior Day Triumph Over Nyack ... Top-Seed Lions Now Prep for Postseason

Lakewood, N.J. - Georgian Court University closed out the 2019 regular season Saturday morning as the first-place Lions walloped the Warriors of Nyack College, 20-3, to secure their third-straight undefeated season vs. Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foes. GCU opened the day by honoring seniors Nicole Barbella, Samantha Fernandez, Lisa Milburn and Amber Neumann in a special pre-game ceremony.

The Lions improve to 13-4 overall on the year, and 9-0 in conference action. Georgian Court has not lost a regular-season contest to a CACC opponent since April 16, 2016 when Caldwell University upset GCU at home, 12-11.

13 different Lions found the back of the net in the home victory, led by Fernandez with five goals (two assists). Barbella. the nation's Division II leader in assists, provided six helpers and a tally for seven total points. The Staten Island, N.Y. native increases her season-total to 76 helpers on the year.

Madison Heck (three points), Arianna Quinlan and Shaine Sauter each provided two goals apiece. The victors dominated the shot column, 43-7, which included a 36-5 margin on frame. Heck secured eight of GCU's 21 draw controls. Milburn and Sauter caused three turnovers each. Melissa Clapsaddle (So.-York, Pa.) poured in two of Nyack's three goals on the day.

Neumann collected a lone save over 45:01 to improve to a healthy 13-4 on the year in the Lions' cage.

Georgian Court begins its quest for a third-straight title (and fifth overall) as the top-seed Lions next take the field on Friday (noon) vs. a yet-to-be-determined opponent in the CACC Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament semifinals (hosted by GCU).
