Lakewood, N.J.- Georgian Court University has a new all-time goal leader as
Samantha Fernandez passed
Melissa Williams ('16) in the Lions' record books Tuesday as GCU triumphed over visiting Post University, 17-6, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse action.
The senior, needing four goals to surpass Williams and her 206 career tallies, netted numbers 41 and 42 of the season at 22:11 and 15:06 of the first half. Fernandez would wait until the second stanza to tie the high-water mark with her third of the contest at 28:25 before taking over the crown at 25:34 with #207.
Arianna Quinlan registered her fifth-straight contest with three or more goals as the junior authored a hat trick in the conference win.
Angelina Palermo also provided a three-goal effort for the Lions while
Sabrina Chandler, Shaine Sauter and
Amanda Marino garnered two each.
Nicole Barbella distributed three assists while recording a goal of her own.
The Lions (9-4, 5-0 CACC) outshot the Eagles, 36-8 (29-7 SOG) in the game.
Amber Neumann, the two-time reigning CACC Goalkeeper of the Week, needed just one save over 34:10 to garner her ninth win of the season.
GCU next takes to the road this Friday evening with a visit to Dominican College. The first draw is set for 6:00 p.m. at Torne Valley Complex in Hillburn, N.Y.
