Lakewood, N.J. - A
John Dolan goal with 16:56 remaining in the first half was all Georgian Court University needed as the Lions' developmental squad made its 2019 debut with a 1-0 home win over the Monroe College JV.
Dolan, a junior transfer out of Manchester Township, N.J., one-timed a perfect cross from teammate
George Halivopoulos to provide the Lions a lead they would not relinquish. GCU tallied six shots-on-goal in the contest and created eight corner kick opportunities in the victory.
Ryan Baird earned the start and the win in the Georgian Court net as the sophomore keeper played the first 45:00 of action.
Angel Guerrero-Salgado relieved his teammate at intermission and played the entire second stanza. Neither goalie garnered a save as Monroe (0-1) was unable to get a shot on frame all afternoon.
The Lions (1-0) will again take the pitch next Thursday, September 19 when they host Rowan College of South Jersey (Cumberland Campus) at 4:00 p.m.
