East Stroudsburg, Pa. - Georgian Court University took to the road for the first time in 2020 Saturday afternoon as the Lions traveled to the Keystone State to face #11 East Stroudsburg University. The Warriors, playing their initial contest, appeared to be in mid-season form as the home team rolled to a 15-7 victory over GCU.
ESU netted the match's first six goals (and nine of the game's first 10 tallies) as the Warriors owned a commanding 9-1 advantage with 2:33 to go in the first half. Georgian Court responded with a goal-scoring flurry of its own as the Lions poured in five of the contest's next six scores to cut the deficit to 10-6 at the 24:07 mark of the second.
The Warriors swiped the momentum back from their guest later in the stanza as ESU put the game out of reach for the Lions with four unanswered to make the score 14-6 with 13:24 left in regulation.Â
Bailey McMaster (Jr.-Garnet Valley, Pa.) and
Shannon Dent (Jr.-Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) recorded hat tricks for the victors while
Gianna Leduc (Jr.-Westtown, N.Y.) collected five points with a trio of tallies and two assists.Â
Shaine Sauter paced the Lions with her team-best two goals on the day.
Madison Heck notched a goal and a helper while
Sabrina Chandler,
Amanda Marino,
Lauren Onnembo and
Arianna Quinlan each found the back of the net for GCU.
Tatyana Petteway (Sr.-Nanuet, N.Y.) needed only five saves to earn the goalkeeping "W" for the 1-0 Warriors.
Lucy Tamke secured an impressive 13 saves in the Georgian Court setback.
The Lions (0-3) will return to competition this Friday when Georgian Court visits Lock Haven University at 4:00 p.m. for another CACC-PSAC showdown.
