Lock Haven, Pa. - Four different Lions netted two goals apiece Friday afternoon as Georgian Court University visited Lock Haven University in non-conference women's lacrosse action. The Bald Eagles soared to the 15-10 home victory as the Lions continue to seek their first win of the young campaign.
Heather Devaney deposited the first of her two tallies to provide GCU an early 1-0 surplus at the 20:21 mark of the first half. Lock Haven landed four unanswered to go ahead, 4-1, at 14:39 before the visitors launched a 5-0 rally of its own to take a 6-4 lead with 2:23 left in the session.
Addy Borkowski (Jr.-Eagleville, Pa.) and
Karli Gilbert (RSr.-Perkiomenville, Pa.) were able to sneak in scoring efforts with just 00:29 and 00:01 on the clock, respectively, as the Bald Eagles and Lions entered intermission locked in a 6-6 stalemate.
The home team controlled the second stanza as the Bald Eagles buried seven of the half's first eight goals to take a commanding 13-7 advantage. The foes alternated the remaining scores of the frame as Lock Haven prevented the Lions from closing its deficit to any less than five.
