Women's Basketball Returns to Win Column With 79-63 Divisional Road Win at Goldey-Beacom

Wilmington, Del. - Georgian Court University snapped its three-game slide as the Lions tamed Goldey-Beacom College on the road, 79-63, Saturday in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's hoops action.

The host-Lightning netted the initial basket of the contest (9:32), which would represent the home team's lone lead of the game as Georgian Court proceeded to out-score GBC, 23-13, the rest of the quarter.

Coming out of intermission with a 33-28 deficit, Goldey-Beacom (8-17, 8-9 CACC) responded with a 7-3 spurt to knot the score at 35-all with 7:57 to go in the third. GCU countered with a 19-9 run of its own to take a comfortable double-digit, 54-44, advantage with 0:43 to go in the session. The Lions' surplus would grow to a game-high 22 points when a pair of Safiyyah Lee free throws made the score 76-54 with only 2:48 remaining in regulation.

Georgian Court's freshman phenoms, Tian Addison and Savawn Hughes, highlighted the Lions' lineup with 19 and 13 points, respectively, including a trio of three-pointers apiece. Jada Atchison also poured in 13 points with a trifecta of treys while the aforementioned Lee scored 10 of her own. Hanna Thrainsdottir cleared the glass of a team-best 10 boards.

GBC's Alexis Harrison (So.-Millville, N.J.) topped all scorers with her 21 points while Janiya Stevens (Fr.-Ellendale, Del.) contributed 14 of her own. Jill Latanowich (Sr.-Newton, Mass.) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds in the setback.

The Lions (8-16, 6-11 CACC), coming off their final road game of the season, return home this Wednesday for a 6:00 p.m. divisional face-off vs. Wilmington University.
