Lakewood, N.J. - Georgian Court University unleashed the offensive fury as the Lions poured in a season-high 94 points in a 94-78 walloping of visiting Wilmington University Wednesday evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's basketball divisional action.
Trailing by three at the start of the third quarter (9:44), Georgian Court mounted a magical 31-12 run to close the frame with a hefty 69-53 advantage. The Lions kept the pedal to the metal the rest of the way as GCU's surplus never dipped below double-digits en route to the home team's second-straight victory.
Hanna Thrainsdottir, in her finest game yet in the royal-and-gold, fell just two assists short of a triple-double as the redshirt freshman tallied 12 points, 11 rebounds, eight helpers, and five blocks in a sensational 38 minutes for the victors.
Jada Atchison nailed a game-high 24 points for GCU (including five three-pointers) and six assists.
Tian Addison (six assists),
Safiyyah Lee, and
Andjela Kremenovic also dropped in 12 for the Lions while
Savawn Hughes secured 10 points and four assists in the win. The Lions dished a total of 30 helpers on the night.
Five Wildcats eclipsed double-digits in the scoring column, topped by
Emily Ansah (So.-Bear, Del.) and her 20 points.
LaShyra Williams (Gr.-Seaford, Del.) authored a double-double for Wilmington (5-21, 5-13 CACC) with her 15 points and 12 boards.
Georgian Court (9-16, 7-11 CACC) looks to close the regular season with a three-game winning streak as the Lions host Felician University (4-21, 3-15) this Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in the 2019-20 finale.
