Sparkill, N.Y. - Georgian Court University continues to cruise as the Lions laid into Saint Thomas Aquinas College, 22-8, Monday afternoon in NCAA Division II men's lacrosse action. GCU improves to a perfect 6-0 all-time vs. the Spartans while bumping its record to 4-2 overall on the year.
The outcome was never in doubt as the visitors netted 11 of the game's first 13 tallies to take an 11-2 advantage with 3:45 remaining in the first half. STACÂ (2-3) responded by opening the third period with three-straight goals to slice the deficit to 11-5 at the 6:54 mark before the Lions answered with six in a row of their own to put the contest out of reach.
Georgian Court dominated the shot column, 57-32, and owned a 37-19 lead regarding attempts-on-frame. 13 different Lions found the back of the net in the rout.
Thomas Levasseur led the charge with a team-best four goals, followed by
Randy Collins and
P.J. Saracino (two assists) with three apiece.
Tanner Lee (four assists) and
Michael Ventresca added a pair of scores for the royal-and-gold.
Austin Geissel collected his fourth win in net for the Lions as the senior stopped 10 Spartan shots in his 45:00 of action.
GCU strives for five Thursday night as the Lions journey to Maryland Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. for their first-ever meeting with Frostburg State University.
