Frostburg, Md. - Looking for its fifth-straight triumph, Georgian Court University men's lacrosse paid a visit to Frostburg State University for the first time in program history Thursday night in non-conference action. The hometown Bobcats got the best of the Lions, 14-6, to remain undefeated (4-0) while GCU sees its winning streak halted at four-straight.
The two teams alternated the initial goals of the game before Frostburg heated up with six-straight goals to take a commanding 7-1 lead at 10:17 of the first half. The Bobcats and Lions traded the next eight tallies, leaving the home team with a 10-5 surplus at the 12:32 mark of the fourth period. FSU solidified the victory by burying four of the frame's five remaining goals.
Frostburg out-shot GCU by a healthy margin of 57-33, including a 33-18 advantage on net. A trio of Bobcats compiled hat tricks on the evening, including
Jake Bowman (So.-Clarence Center, N.Y.),
Jason Clinton (Jr.-Barto, Pa.), and
Mike Sipes (Sr.-York, Pa.).
Randy Collins registered three goals of his own for the Lions in the setback.
Devin Bell,
P.J. Saracino, and
Michael Ventresca also found the back of the net for GCU.
Jack Marks (Sr.-York, Pa.) grabbed 12 saves in the complete-game win for the Bobcats. His Georgian Court counterpart,
Austin Geissel, secured an astounding 18 saves in his 53:47 of work.
Georgian Court (4-3) remains on the road for its next outing as the Lions visit #6 Seton Hill University (Greensburg, Pa.) Saturday at noon.
