Lakewood, N.J. - Closing out a lengthy four-match week of volleyball, Georgian Court University suffered a three-sets-to-one defeat at home vs. the University of New Haven Sunday afternoon in non-conference action. Playing 19 total frames over the quartet of contests, the Lions close the day with a 12-5 record.
The visiting Chargers (11-5) edged their host by scores of 25-23 and 26-24 in the first two sets before GCU responded with a 25-7 trouncing in the third. UNH bounced back in the fourth, 25-22, to earn the regional triumph.
Three Lions authored double-doubles on the day, led by
Kinsy Haschke and her 17 kills, .400 hitting percentage, and 14 digs. The performance marks the senior's team-best eighth double-double on the year.
Nylene Mateo followed with 15 kills and 11 digs of her own while
Trilby Kite dished 19 assists and settled 11 digs.
Faith Bennett also distributed 19 helpers for GCU.
Jessica Sprankle enjoyed 10 assists and four service aces.Â
Georgian Court takes a much-deserved break from action before returning to the floor Thursday evening (6:00 p.m.) with a highly-anticipated visit to CACC divisional rival, Jefferson.
