Bloomfield, N.J. - The Georgian Court University women's volleyball campaign came to an unexpected conclusion Tuesday evening as Bloomfield College sent off the Lions, 3-1, in the first round of the 2021 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Tournament.
The Bears, the top seed in the north division, split the first two sets with GCU (25-19 and 22-25) before taking the next two by scores of 25-20 and 29-27 to advance to the semifinal round Friday vs. #3 south, Wilmington University. Bloomfield moves on for the first time since 2015 when they also knocked off the Lions in a home quarterfinal match.
Grace Fenn topped the road team with nine kills in the four-setter.
Trilby Kite dished a team-best 14 kills while
Kinsy Haschke paced the squad with her 10 digs.
Nahomie Alejandro Negron dropped in four service aces while also soaring for seven block assists in the effort.
The Lions end the year with a record of 21-10 (12-6 CACC).
