Washington, D.C.- Georgian Court University men's basketball, taking the floor for the first time since in eight days, journeyed to the nation's capital Monday evening for a non-conference showdown vs. the University of the District of Columbia.
The host-Firebirds recorded their first victory of the 2021-22 campaign, defeating the Lions by a score of 73-50. Five UDC players reached double-digits in the scoring column with
Tevin Curtis (Fr.-Baltimore, Md.) and
Kenyon Stone (Jr.-Bowie, Md.) pacing the home team with 14 points apiece.
Jahmir Marable-Williams (Jr.-Philadelphia, Pa.) cleared the glass of a team-best 10 boards.
Shane Williams authored his first double-double of the season for the Lions as the junior dropped in 13 points and snared a game-high 11 rebounds (while also dishing five helpers)in 40 minutes of action. Clint Wright Jr. led all scorers with his 15 points and, like his teammate, distributed five assists. Jalani Jackson recorded 14 points and collected six rebounds in the effort.
GCU (0-3) returns to campus for its home-opener as the Lions host Mercy College Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. for a Thanksgiving Eve matinee.
