Lakewood, N.J. - In a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball divisional showdown carrying major playoff implications, it would be Thomas Jefferson University that would seize the opportunity as the Rams escaped the Wellness Center with a 3-1 triumph over Georgian Court Thursday night.
After trailing 22-14 in the first set, the host-:Lions closed the frame with an impressive 11-1 run to swipe the stanza, 25-23. After the initial jolt, Jefferson dusted off and dominated the last three sets (25-16, 25-19, 25-18) to seal the win. The visitors, with a 12-4 CACC mark (21-4 overall), now sits in third-place in the south division standings. GCU (11-5 CACC, 20-8 overall) holds the fourth-place spot.
Kinsy Haschke and
Grace Fenn paced the Lions' offense with 14 and 11 kills, respectively.
Trilby Kite continues an outstanding senior campaign with her 12th double-double of the year (15 assists, 12 digs).
Faith Bennett contributed 13 helpers and nine digs.
Jessica Sprankle topped the team with 14 digs to go along with seven assists.
Ava Venneri followed with 13 digs of her own.
