Wilmington, Del. - Anyssa Fields and Erika Aspajo each eclipsed the 20-point mark, and Leighanna Lister came within one point of her third-consecutive double-double performance, in Wednesday night's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's basketball season-opener at divisional rival, Goldey-Beacom College.

The host-Lightning zapped the Lions in comeback fashion as GBC garnered a key 90-78 conference triumph to move to an even 3-3 (1-0 CACC) on the year. Georgian Court, suffering its second-straight setback, slips to 2-4 (0-1 CACC).

A pair of Janai Brown free throws with 8:13 left in the second quarter provided the royal-and-gold its largest lead of the contest at 27-18. Goldey-Beacom proceeded to scorch its guest, 22-10, the rest of the period to take a 40-37 cushion into intermission. The Lightning would never look back as home team increased its surplus to 10 (71-61) at the end of the third frame before inflating its advantage to a high-water mark of 17 (89-72) with 1:28 left in regulation.

Briana Seltzer (So.-Reading, Pa.) and Alexis Harrison (Jr.-Millville, N.J.) topped the victors with 26 and 22 points, respectively, while Mickey Williams (So.-Wamboin, Australia) added 14 points off the Goldey-Beacom bench.

Georgian Court's Fields collected 26 points (nine rebounds) in the outing, the sophomore's fourth 20-point effort in just six outings thus far. Aspajo netted an even 20 on the evening (with a season-high five three-pointers) for her second game with 20 or more. Both players played all 40 minutes.

Lister, coming off double-double efforts vs. St. Thomas Aquinas and Adelphi, snared a game-high 13 boards to complement her nine points. Nerea Brajac, earning the starting nod, dropped in 12 points while dishing five helpers. Ivona Krakic, seeing her first action since suffering a knee injury back on January 18, 2020, blocked a game-high five blocks in 20 minutes. Hanna Thrainsdottir added four rejections and seven rebounds.

GCU returns home to host University of the Sciences this Saturday at noon in another divisional showdown.
