University of the Sciences Seals Saturday Divisional Road Win at Georgian Court, 74-68 .... Krakic Collects 20 Points for Lions

Lakewood, N.J. - University of the Sciences turned a one-point lead at intermission into a 10-point cushion after three periods of play as the Devils methodically pulled away from Georgian Court University to secure the 74-68 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) divisional road win Saturday in the Wellness Center.

The victory pushes USciences to 5-1 (1-0 CACC) on the year while the Lions lose for the third-straight outing and dip to 2-5 overall (0-2 CACC).

GCU did own a game-high five-point surplus when an Erika Aspajo three-pointer made the score 9-4 Lions 3:19 into the contest. USciences proceeded to outpace the home team by a 17-12 margin the rest of the frame, resulting in a 21-21 tie after the first period. The Lions di outscore its guest, 18-14, in the fourth, but to no avail.

The Devils' Jess Huber (Gr.-Hatfield, Pa.) topped all players with 26 total points, hitting 10-of-18 from the field. Taylor Hamm (Sr.-Collegeville, Pa.) added some zest to the USciences lineup, draining 12 points and snaring a team-best eight boards in the win. Harlem Jennings (Jr.-King of Prussia, Pa.) and Anna McTamney (Fr.-Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) each contributed 11 points apiece.

Ivona Krakic, in her first home game since the 2019-20 campaign because of injury, provided the Georgian Court fans plenty of highlights as the senior scored a team-high 20 points (9-for-12 from the field) and secured seven rebounds in 22 total minutes. Anyssa Fields followed with 18 points and three three-pointers, while leading all players with nine boards.

The Lions stay in division for their next outing as GCU visits Holy Family University Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
