Georgian Court Clips Concordia Comeback Effort in 3-2 Conference Road Win

Bronxville, N.Y. - Seeking a third-consecutive CACC victory (and fourth-straight win overall), Georgian Court University sailed to 2-0 lead over host-Concordia University Sunday afternoon before thwarting a furious Clippers' comeback and earning the hard-fought 3-2 win.

After sailing to victories of 25-19 and 25-17 in the initial two frames of the contest, Concordia countered with a pair of hard-fought triumphs in sets three and four, 26-24 and 25-22. In the fifth-and-final stanza, Georgian Court compiled a 7-5 advantage before the home team fired back with four unanswered points to take a 9-7 lead.

Trailing by a deuce, GCU unleashed the fury and rattled off the match's final eight points in succession to sink the Clippers, 15-9, and secure the W.

Aubrey Binkley and Grace Fenn provided a majority of the Lions' high-flying offense with 15 and 10 kills, respectively. Binkley also dominated at the service line, dropping eight aces on Concordia. Faith Bennett collected her second double-double of the campaign with 24 assists and 13 kills while sending over three aces of her own. Trilby Kite followed with 15 helpers.

Kinsy Haschke fell just short of her own double-double performance with 10 digs and nine kills. Paula Cespedes settled a team-best 20 digs in the effort. Nahomie Alejandro Negron soared for six blocks for the royal and blue. Fenn and Kayla Wilson added three rejections each.

As for the Clippers (2-2, 2-2 CACC), Madison Gardner (So.-Oak Hills, Calif.) topped the squad with 16 kills and four blocks. Militza de Hostos (Bayamon, P.R.) secured a double-double with her 12 kills and 11 digs. Lydimar Soto (So.-Trujillo Alto, P.R.) turned in 10 kills and nine digs for Concordia while Nelly Diaz (Sr.-Land O' Lakes, Fla.) dished a match-best 40 assists.

The Lions (4-2, 3-0 CACC) return home this Wednesday to host Holy Family University in a rematch of the 2019 CACC Championship Game (5:00 p.m.). Catch all of the action LIVE at www.caccnetwork.com/georgiancourt.
