Addison, Fields Each Eclipse 20 Points as Lions Cruise at Caldwell, 72-53, to Stay Perfect

Lakewood, N.J.- Tian Addison poured in a season-high 24 points and the reigning CACC Player of the Week, Anyssa Fields, added 21 of her own as Georgian Court University coasted to a 72-53 road win at Caldwell University Tuesday evening to improve to a perfect 5-0 (5-0 CACC) on the season.

After edging the host-Cougars, 17-16, in the initial quarter, the road team concocted an 11-3 run to commence the second frame, resulting in a 28-19 surplus with 4:57 to go in the half. A Jessica Wagoner (So.-Clifton Park, N.Y.) lay-up at 9:27 in the third erased all but two points of the Caldwell deficit as the home squad made the score 32-30.

GCU countered with an 8-0 spurt, capped by a Leighanna Lister layup at 6:20 in the third to increase the Lions' cushion to 10 before Caldwell answered with a duplicate 8-0 sprint to return to within two with 4:03 on the clock. Georgian Court kept the contest socially distant the rest of the frame (and the game) by closing the period with a 13-5 sprint ... and yet another 10-point advantage (53-43).

The Lions put it in overdrive in the fourth quarter as GCU kept its lead in double-digits for a majority of the period, culminating with its 19-point high-water mark at the final buzzer.

Addison shot a stellar 9-for-16 from the field in the victory, which included four three-pointers in 31 minutes of action. Fields hit on 10 of her 20 field goal efforts and secured eight rebounds in 39 minutes. Hanna Thrainsdottir grabbed nine boards while Lister (coming off a double-double last Saturday) paced the squad with her 10 rebounds. Both rejected four shots apiece in the triumph.

Paula Dits (Jr.-Alicante, Spain) connected for 19 points to lead the Cougars in scoring. Halle Brown (So.-Dowingtown, Pa.) added 13 points while Wagoner ended the night with 11.

Georgian Court, which garnered three votes in the latest Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, (sponsored by D2SIDA) returns home to host Nyack College Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. The Lions took down the Warriors, 69-62, back on Jan. 30 in Jersey City.
