Lakewood, N.J. - Taking the home turf for the first time since March 10, 2020, Georgian Court University delighted its committed fan base as the Lions tamed Holy Family University, 16-5, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's lacrosse action.
The victory moves GCU to 4-1 (1-0 CACC) on the season, and extends the program's winning streak vs. conference foes to 34-straight victories (including postseason contests). Holy Family falls to 1-4 (1-3 CACC) with the setback.
Georgian Court accounted for the game's first 10 goals and strutted into intermission with a comfortable 11-2 cushion. The home team secured a more modest 5-3 advantage in the second stanza with the outcome never in doubt.Â
Six different Lions recorded goals on the afternoon, led by
Heather Deveney and her four tallies (1 assist).
Shaine Sauter matched her teammate's five points with three goals and two helpers in the win.
Amanda Marino also contributed a hat trick while
Sabrina Chander (2 goals, 1 assist),
Riley O'Connor (2 goals, 1 assist) and
Maddie Heck (two goals) also provided multi-point efforts.
The aforementioned Heck secured a game-best nine draw controls vs. the Tigers as the Lions owned a 17-6 margin the category.Â
Alexis Hahn moved to 4-1 in net for the victors, securing six saves in 30:00 of action.
The Lions return to the field on Friday with a 3:30 p.m. non-conference home game vs. #18 Mercy College. GCU dropped an 18-10 decision to the Mavericks last Thursday in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.
